Spaghetti with tomato sofrito, pesto and garlic

In a tiny little Barcelona kitchen this time. It’s great to have a place with a kitchen when you travel – the food in Barcelona is great, but sometimes you just need some comfort food and a night in.

In Spain, you can buy a delicious tomato mixture called ‘sofrito’: cooked tomato and onion. Sort of like Italian sugo, but less liquidy, more oily, and really tasty. I saut├ęd a whole lot of garlic separately and stirred it through a jar of sofrito and some basil pesto.
