Steamed pork buns

There was a lot of pork left over from last night, so I decided to try making home made pork buns.

I used the Momofuku pork belly buns recipe for the dough. For the filling I just shredded the left over pork and reduced the sauce so that it was dark and sticky.

Although it was pretty time consuming it was well worth the effort. The dough was silky on the outside and deliciously chewy, and the filling wasn’t too sweet like in some pork buns that I’ve had. I served them with some sliced cucumber dressed with sesame oil, tamari and rice vinegar.

I was really happy with the result, and we have enough still for lunch tomorrow and more in the freezer. I’ll definitely be making these again.
